An email forwarder allows you to send a copy of all incoming mail from one address to another. There are two types: Account Forwarders (single address) and Domain Forwarders (entire domain).
1. Setting up an Account Forwarder (Single Email)
Use this if you want mail from sales@yourdomain.com to go to a specific person.
- Log in to your HostWP.io cPanel.
- Under the Email section, click on Forwarders.
- Click the Add Forwarder button.
- Address to Forward: Enter the username (the part before the @).
- Domain: Select the correct domain from the dropdown.
- Destination: * Select Forward to Email Address.
- Enter the full email address where you want the mail to land (e.g., yourname@gmail.com).
- Click Add Forwarder.
2. Setting up a Domain Forwarder (Entire Domain)
Use this if you have two domains (e.g., .com and .net) and want all mail sent to @yourdomain.net to go to the same user at @yourdomain.com.
- On the Forwarders page, click Add Domain Forwarder.
- Select the “Source” domain.
- Type in the “Target” domain where the mail should be sent.
- Click Add Domain Forwarder.

Important: Forwarding vs. Full Mailboxes
- Forwarder Only: You do not need to create an actual “Email Account” if you only want to forward mail. This saves disk space.
- Forwarder + Account: If you have an email account and a forwarder, the mail will land in your HostWP.io inbox and be sent to your forwarded address. This is useful for keeping a backup.
A Note on Spam Filters (Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook)
When you forward mail to external providers like Gmail, they might occasionally mark the forwarded mail as spam because the “sender” doesn’t match the “server.”
- The Fix: Ensure you have completed the SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup (from above) to prove that your HostWP.io server is authorized to handle your mail.
